Challenge: extranet with proper security

The usage of extranet environments is increasing within the banking industry; a good extranet empowers independent asset managers to manage all banking services related to their clients. Furthermore an extranet environment enables asset management parties to keep a direct line of contact with their sales representatives. By using an extranet environment Theodoor Gilissen wants to offer a single source of relevant industry news towards their associated Asset managers, enabling them to share relevant documentation with each other. The most important criterion for the extranet was the security aspect, which had to be delivered fully waterproof.

Approach: integration of systems and stable infrastructure

Because a Banking environment always has to be stable –both on- and offline- , we provided a fitted solution: a Share point Office 2007 Extranet, based on the Microsoft SharePoint @ ONCE (MONCE) concept, which was developed by Virtual Affairs. To secure the infrastructure, synchronize the network and protect the IT environment as a whole, Microsoft ISA Server 2006 has been deployed. Besides the integration of internal and external applications, Citrix applications were added to the software configuration. After implementation the system was thoroughly tested by ITsec experts.

Result: stable extranet for independent asset managers

Within the new extranet environment of Theodoor Gilissen, asset management parties can now share news, review important documentation or look into their real-time agenda’s. Furthermore, asset Managers can closely monitor their investment portfolios within the secured environment. All of this happens from the mailbox that leads the Asset managers to his or her personalized page.
