Ardagh Glass
A platform where knowledge is shared
Ardagh Glass produces container glass in twenty factory sites located in seven different European countries. Example: a large part of the Heineken beer bottles in the Netherlands. Recently Ardagh Glass acquired new factory sites, resulting into a major company growth.
Challenge: merging three separate organisations into one Ardagh Glass
The three former separate organizations each have their own logistical and financial systems with an accompanying intranet. Due to the merger Ardagh Glass needed to redevelop its corporate identity which also required for one single intranet system. The newly to developed intranet system should make it easier to stream line different company processes with one another.
Approach: uniform style for centralized intranet
The intranet of Ardagh Glass needs to centralize the processes of over 3000 employees. Virtual Affairs realized this with a
MONCE intranet based on SharePoint. The MONCE intranet was shaped in a way that fit the needs of Ardagh Glass’s employees. Separate portals were created for best practices and the marketing department.
Result: Intranet supports the entire organisation
iShare, as the newly developed intranet is baptized, is a platform for the sharing of knowledge between employees of all departments. The main information that is being shared comprises of best practices. We saw the investment is giving its return on investment: immediately after launch, the intranet was being used by only a small group of employees, now over a quarter of all employees use it on a frequent base. Coming autumn the entire organization will make use of iShare. iShare will become an important source of information within the new Ardagh Glass.
